Udaipur : Lehrulal, a 48-year old farmer who was apparently in distress after frost damaged his crops past week, committed suicide on Sunday. Lehrulal was resident of Pipli Acharyan village under Kankroli police station limit in Rajsamand district. He was found hanging from a neem tree in his field, KailashDan, SHO Kankroli told Udaipur Kiran.
Lehrulal owned 4 beeghas of land and he had sown brinjal and cauliflower crop in the season. ” The area was reeling under severe cold past week and Lehrulal’s son Bherulal told us that their temperature swings and frost had badly affected their crops which had caused much stress to his father” the officer said. When Lehrulal left home in the morning he told his family that he was going to irrigate the field but when he didnt return his wife Gauri Devi went looking for him and found him hanging.
The villagers pulled down the body and rushed him to hospital, but, Lehrulal was dead. Police was informed which conducted an autopsy and handed the body to his family. ” We have registered a case and investigating more details” the SHO said. The cops would find whether the farmer was debt ridden or there was some other reason behind the suicide.
