The pre-bookings for Street 2, starring Rajkumar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, began over the weekend. Directed by Amar Kaushik, the sequel to the 2018 blockbuster Streets will hit theaters on August 15, Independence Day. Amid all the excitement surrounding the horror-comedy, an industry analyst said that the film is expected to have a “massive run of Rs 30-35 crore”.

“Jio Studios’ Stre2 sold 45,000 pre-sale tickets, including previews, across national chains on day one. The final tickets were sold for almost Rs 2.5-3.5 lakh,” Summit Kader tweeted on Sunday. A huge amount of Rs 30-35 million is expected to open on August 15.

According to a recent report on Sacnilk.com, Street 2 sold 1,24,402 tickets across India on its opening day. Furthermore, the film has collected Rs 4,090 crore so far in advance sales on August 15.

Box office clash on Independence Day

At the box office, Streets 2 will compete with other Hindi blockbusters like Akshay Kumar’s Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham’s Vader. Tamil star Vikram’s ‘Thangaraan’ directed by Pa Ranjith and Puri Jagannadh’s ‘Double Ismart’ starring Telugu stars Ram Pusheenni and Sanjay Dutt will also hit theaters on Independence Day.

About the film

Starring Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurrana in the lead roles, Street was one of the most commercially successful and acclaimed films of 2018. These actors will be returning in the sequel to the Amar Kaushik-directed film.

“The Street” is set in the small town of Chandri in Madhya Pradesh, where one night during the festival season, an evil spirit named “The Street” kidnaps a man. The film is based on the urban legend ‘Nare Ba’, which was popular in Karnataka in the 1990s.

Stree 2 is produced by Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films and Jio Studios’ Jyoti Deshpande. Street Films is part of Madhok’s horror-comedy universe, which also includes Varun Dhawan’s Behdia and Abhay Verma’s Shrewri starrer Monjia.
