New Delhi, September 15 (Udaipur Kiran) : Nitish Kumar Reddy made a significant impact in the second T20 match against Afghanistan on Tuesday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, claiming three wickets for just 24 runs. His impressive bowling performance helped restrict the visiting team to 159 runs for eight wickets, leading India to a seven-wicket victory and an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. For his outstanding display, Reddy was named ‘Player of the Match.’
Reflecting on his performance, Reddy attributed his success to the confidence he gained during his rehabilitation after a recent injury. He emphasized the hard work he put in at the Centre of Excellence (COE), which played a crucial role in his recovery and fitness.
After receiving the award, Reddy expressed his satisfaction, saying, “It feels great. I’m feeling very good right now. We have done a great job at the COE, and my body is recovering well.”
Reddy’s return to form has bolstered the Indian team as they seek to enhance their balance with strong seam-bowling all-rounders. He mentioned that the extra pace he has gained is part of his ambition to establish himself as a complete all-rounder.
“I feel very good. I have always wanted to be the best all-rounder, and for that, I needed the extra pace, which I am getting. There will be both advantages and disadvantages, and staying fit is essential,” he stated.
This performance marked a strong comeback for Reddy after a limited impact in the first T20 match. However, he remained focused on his capabilities rather than dwelling on past performances. “I would say it’s all about trusting your abilities and making a comeback. I was just believing in myself. It’s a strange game; anything can change in a moment,” he concluded.
