Mumbai, September 11 (Udaipur Kiran) : Actor and producer Vivek Vaswani marked the anniversary of the 9/11 attacks on Friday, recalling how a seemingly ordinary morning at the Toronto International Film Festival turned into a day that changed the world forever.
In a heartfelt social media post, Vaswani shared a nostalgic photo with actress Pooja Bhatt and actor Rahul Bose, taken during the premiere of his first English film at the festival. He reflected on the events of September 11, 2001, when he was in Toronto for the world premiere of his film.
“On September 11, 2001, my film had its world premiere at TIFF. It was a cold morning in Toronto, and I was extremely excited. My first English film was officially selected for TIFF. Ashutosh and I woke up early that day to catch ‘Monsoon Wedding’ at 7 AM. We stepped out of the cinema at 10 AM, and the world had changed. An attack had occurred in America. Today marks the anniversary of that horrific day, yet we still seem to have learned nothing. By the way, who is John Galt?” he wrote in his post.
This reflection comes on the 25th anniversary of the deadly attacks in the United States, which saw terrorists hijack four commercial aircraft. Two planes were crashed into the North and South Towers of the World Trade Center in New York, while a third struck the Pentagon near Washington, D.C. The attacks resulted in the loss of 2,977 lives and led to significant changes in global politics, security policies, and the onset of the U.S.-led “War on Terror.”
