Ajmer, April 1 — A tragic gas leak from an acid factory in the Badia area of Beawar, Rajasthan, claimed the lives of three individuals, including the factory owner, late Monday night. The incident has left over 60 people hospitalized, with several others reported in critical condition.

Nitrogen Leak Turns Fatal
According to initial reports, the leak occurred in a nitrogen gas tanker parked inside the warehouse of Sunil Trading Company, a chemical unit in the industrial zone. The gas spread rapidly across the surrounding residential area, leaving residents gasping for breath and experiencing severe eye irritation.
Sunil Singhal, the factory owner, died while trying to control the leak. He was rushed to a hospital in Ajmer but succumbed during treatment. Another victim, Narendra Solanki, also died early Tuesday morning while undergoing treatment at JLN Hospital. Two more victims are currently in ICU, while one is being treated in the general ward.
Dozens Hospitalized, Animals Affected
More than 60 people, including factory workers and nearby residents, have been admitted to hospitals in Beawar and Ajmer. Authorities confirmed that several stray animals and domestic pets also perished due to the toxic gas exposure.
Residents reported a strong smell and discomfort around midnight, and panic quickly spread through the neighborhood.
Emergency Response & Factory Sealed
Upon receiving the alert, police, fire brigade, and district administration officials rushed to the site. Emergency teams managed to control the gas leak overnight and immediately evacuated the nearby residential area as a precautionary measure.
District Collector Dr. Mahendra Khadgawat ordered the immediate sealing of the factory and directed the police to register a criminal case. “Strict action will be taken against those responsible for this negligence,” he added.
