Udaipur, February 11: In a significant crackdown on illegal liquor production, storage, transportation, and sale, the state has destroyed over 234,000 liters of wash during a special preventive campaign initiated under the directives of Excise Commissioner Shivprasad Nakate. In January alone, 894 cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 718 individuals involved in these illegal activities.
According to the Excise Commissioner, the department has taken effective measures to curb illegal liquor operations. The campaign resulted in the seizure of various types of liquor, including 622 bottles of Indian-made foreign liquor, 4,921 bottles of country liquor, 5,468 bottles of illegal liquor, and 1,052 bottles of beer, along with one kilogram of cannabis.
Additional Excise Commissioner Policy Pradeep Singh Sangawat and Additional Excise Commissioner Administration Anil Kumar Sharma reported that under the Rajasthan Excise Act, 894 cases were filed against individuals involved in illegal liquor activities during January. The authorities also seized 40 vehicles used for illegal liquor transportation, including 33 two-wheelers, three light four-wheelers, and three heavy four-wheelers.
