Nasya Therapy Helps Ease Winter Discomfort and Improve Skin Glow

New Delhi, 24 November (Udaipur Kiran): During winter, many people experience dryness in the nose, frequent congestion, breathing issues due to pollution, and recurring chest mucus. Ayurveda offers a traditional solution for these concerns through Nasya, an age-old therapeutic method.

Nasya is one of the five key procedures of Panchakarma, the Ayurvedic detoxification system. Panchakarma includes vaman, virechan, basti, nasya and raktamokshan. According to Ayurvedic practice, Nasya helps protect the body from seasonal discomforts, especially in cold weather. The procedure involves administering medicinal oils through the nose, which is believed to benefit the head, ears, eyes, skin, hair and throat.

Nasya Therapy

Ayurvedic texts describe the nose as “nasa hi shiraso dwaram,” meaning that nasal care can help support overall vitality. Mustard oil is commonly used in Nasya therapy. It is believed to help reduce chest congestion, relieve headaches, open blocked nasal passages and keep the body warm during winter. Traditionally, two drops of mustard oil are applied in each nostril at night.

Nasya can also be performed using Anu Taila, an herbal oil blend. Regular use of Anu oil is traditionally associated with reduced migraine discomfort, less hair fall, improved sleep, better eye health and enhanced skin radiance. Ayurveda recommends using Anu oil at night for best results.

Experts advise performing Nasya only under the guidance of an Ayurvedic practitioner, as selecting the right oil and method is essential for safe and effective results.
