New Delhi, 24 November (Udaipur Kiran): Chyawanprash is traditionally known for helping maintain strength, energy and vitality as people age. According to Ayurvedic texts, the formulation is believed to have been created by sage Chyawan, and many people still take it daily for its blend of medicinal herbs and nutritious ingredients.

One of its most widely recognised benefits is its role in supporting the body’s immune system. During the winter season, when cold and cough become common, many individuals consume Chyawanprash as a protective supplement.
Amla, a key ingredient and a natural source of vitamin C, is considered helpful in boosting energy and freshness. Herbs like brahmi and shankhpushpi are traditionally associated with calming the mind and supporting memory.
For heart and lung health, ingredients such as amla and giloy are considered beneficial. They are believed to help balance body heat and mucus, which may ease breathing discomfort. Regular consumption is also said to improve skin glow and hair strength, based on common user experience.
Ashwagandha and vidarikand, known as strength-enhancing herbs, are considered helpful in reducing weakness and fatigue.
Typically, adults take 1–2 teaspoons on an empty stomach in the morning or with milk. For children, half a teaspoon is considered sufficient.
However, people with diabetes are advised to opt for a sugar-free formulation. Experts also recommend consulting a healthcare professional before starting any Ayurvedic supplement, as needs may vary depending on individual health conditions.
