Ujjain, May 14: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, continuous inspections are being conducted for the preparations of the Kumbh Mela 2028. Following the Chief Minister’s directives, new ghats are being constructed along a 29-kilometer stretch of the Shipra River to facilitate millions of devotees for bathing, ensuring their safe transit to the destination.
All departments have accelerated the pace of development work for the Kumbh Mela. CM Yadav is regularly reviewing the preparations and providing necessary instructions. The ongoing development includes constructing convenient approach roads to facilitate vehicle parking and access to the ghats for devotees arriving from around the world. The establishment of organized parking areas and accessible routes to the ghats will aid in effective management.
Recently, Additional Chief Secretary Dr. Rajesh Rajoura visited Ujjain to assess the preparations for the Kumbh Mela. In a routine inspection, Divisional Commissioner and Kumbh Mela Officer Ashish Singh, along with Ujjain Collector Roshan Kumar Singh, reviewed arrangements at key locations within the fair area with a team of officials from various departments. They began their inspection near the Vikrant Bhairav Temple bridge and conducted a foot survey over approximately 5 kilometers, identifying 18 proposed locations for approach roads connecting to the new ghats being constructed along the Shipra River.
Under the Kumbh Mela 2028 initiative, CM Yadav is ensuring that millions of devotees can conveniently bathe in the holy Shipra River, which is considered to grant salvation. The Chief Minister is consistently receiving updates on the preparations. Recently, administrative officials undertook a 36-kilometer walk along the banks of the Shipra River, identifying 140 locations for proposed routes connecting to the ghats.
In line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call and CM Mohan Yadav’s initiative, officials followed fuel conservation guidelines by traveling in a single bus for inspections. This team inspected various locations to identify proposed routes for the convenience of devotees.
The inspections also included identifying locations for approach roads connecting the newly constructed and existing ghats to the main routes. The inspection began at the ghat area beneath the Red Bridge, covering areas like Gau Ghat, behind the Observatory, near the Wakankar Bridge, Jivan Khedi, and near the old and newly constructed ghats at Shani Temple.
The identified locations for the approach road construction will facilitate easy access for devotees to the ghats. The police department will prepare a plan for crowd control and traffic management at these identified spots.
