MSP Hike Brings Joy to Farmers Ahead of Kharif Season

Udaipur, May 14: The Central Cabinet’s Economic Affairs Committee, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved an increase in the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for 14 crops for the Kharif season 2026-27. This decision has sparked joy among farmers in Banaskantha, Gujarat, and across the country.

Farmers view this increase as a fair valuation of their hard work, believing it will not only cover their farming expenses but also strengthen their economic status. Small and marginal farmers are expected to benefit the most from this decision, which will also promote the cultivation of pulses and oilseeds.

Local farmer Jagdish Patel expressed his optimism, stating, “The increase in MSP will greatly benefit us. When we receive lower prices in the market, the government will buy our crops at the MSP, which will be advantageous for us. Now, farmers will reap the rewards of their labor.”

Another farmer, Jayeshbhai, praised the government’s initiative, saying, “Our country is made up of farmers. The increase in MSP announced by PM Modi is significantly higher than our production costs. The government has shown concern for small and marginal farmers living in villages. Through schemes like crop insurance and the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi, PM Modi is committed to increasing farmers’ incomes. We are very grateful to him.”

Kirti Bhai Mewada added, “The increase in MSP is very beneficial for farmers. The central government is doing excellent work, and farmers are very happy with this decision.”

Farmer Meghraj Bhai Patel welcomed the hike, stating, “The increase in MSP is very advantageous for us. We also request the government to purchase larger quantities of crops from farmers.”

Farmers believe that this MSP increase will make farming more profitable and attractive, especially for those cultivating pulses and oilseeds, marking another significant step towards farmer-friendly policies by the government.
