Udaipur: A 40-year-old man, Rakesh Choubisha, from Slumber, narrowly escaped death after suffering a severe headache while waiting in line at a bank. The headache led to unconsciousness, prompting his family to rush him to GBH American Hospital in Udaipur.
Upon examination, an MRI revealed that the cause of the severe headache was a ruptured aneurysm in the brain caused by high blood pressure. A blood clot had formed at the site of the rupture. The medical team decided to perform an aneurysm coiling procedure.
Endovascular Interventional Neurosurgeon Dr. S.R. Chaudhary and his team successfully conducted the procedure, guiding a wire through a leg artery to the brain and blocking the bleeding area with coils. This restored normal blood flow to the brain. After two days in the neuro-ICU for observation, the patient was shifted to the ward and was discharged on Wednesday.
Dr. Chaudhary explained that the high blood pressure had caused a bulge in the brain’s artery, which eventually ruptured. Timely medical intervention and the coiling procedure saved the patient’s life and prevented potential paralysis. He added that aneurysm coiling is an effective treatment for such cases and is performed without any incisions. He has successfully performed over a hundred such procedures.
