Jammu, September 24 (Udaipur Kiran) : BJP leaders Ranbir Singh Pathania and Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj have sharply criticized Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments regarding the Election Commission and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. They accused Gandhi of undermining constitutional institutions and creating confusion among the public regarding the electoral process.
Pathania stated that it has become a habit for Congress and Rahul Gandhi to disrespect institutions and mislead the public. He referred to a report indicating that while the issue initially appeared significant, the Election Commission later clarified that decisions were made collectively by all three Election Commissioners. He emphasized that any differences among the commissioners are part of the democratic process and should not be exaggerated into major controversies.
Addressing Gandhi’s allegations of electoral fraud and vote theft, Pathania remarked that Congress’s support base has been diminishing, leading to their inability to accept electoral defeats. He asserted that the Congress party’s frustration is reflected in such statements. In response to Gandhi’s demand for Kumar’s resignation and claims of having substantial evidence, Pathania reiterated that India operates on the rule of law. He stressed that defaming institutions like the Election Commission, Supreme Court, CAG, CBI, and ED is inappropriate, and any evidence against officials should be presented through the proper legal channels.
Dr. Sunil Bhardwaj also expressed strong disapproval of Gandhi’s statements, urging Congress to reflect on its past before accusing others of corruption. He cited scandals such as Bofors, 2G, and Commonwealth to highlight Congress’s own issues with corruption. Bhardwaj insisted that responsible leaders should consider facts and legal procedures when making statements. He added that if Gandhi possesses evidence, it should be presented in a legal forum, as no one can be deemed guilty based solely on statements.
On the topic of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Pathania reiterated India’s claim over the region, referencing the historical merger of Jammu and Kashmir with India under Maharaja Hari Singh. He stated that Pakistan’s control over the area is illegitimate and that the sentiments of the people of Jammu and Kashmir are tied to India’s claim. Both leaders affirmed that India will continue to assert its claim over the region in the future.
