New Delhi, September 24 (Udaipur Kiran) : Left-wing parties in India are calling for the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, alongside demands to halt the Special Intensive Review (SIR) process. The protests, organized by the three major communist parties, are set to take place nationwide from September 26 to October 2.
Dipankar Bhattacharya, General Secretary of CPI (ML) Liberation, expressed that there is widespread discontent regarding the electoral processes that have emerged since the initiation of SIR in Bihar. He emphasized that their primary demands include the immediate removal of Gyanesh Kumar and a cessation of the SIR process.
Former CPI (M) MP Hannan Mollah also joined the call for action against Kumar. He welcomed the proposed protests led by Abhijit Dipke, founder of the so-called ‘Cockroach People’s Party,’ stating that it is encouraging to see many individuals stepping forward to participate. Mollah insisted that Kumar should not merely resign but should be removed from his position entirely.
Mollah accused Kumar of committing serious offenses against the Constitution and attempting to disrupt the electoral system, which he claims has adversely affected the voting rights of many citizens. He urged for swift and strict action in the matter and called for the judiciary to take prompt notice.
Additionally, Mollah criticized the Bihar government for its handling of crimes against women, noting the increasing incidents in the state and the government’s inability to curb them. He pointed out that despite the government’s lofty promises, effective measures to combat crime have not been implemented, urging the state to take immediate and strong actions.
