Infant Girl Infected with Chandipura Virus Dies, Medical Protocol to be Followed for Last Rites

Bhilwara, August 9 (Udaipur Kiran): A two-year-old girl from Itariya village in Shahpura district succumbed to the Chandipura virus in the early hours of Thursday. The family is bringing the body back to the village from Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, the district administration has been put on high alert. Senior officials of the district administration and the medical and health department are reaching the spot. This is the first case of Chandipura infection in Shahpura district and the third in the state, prompting the state government to supervise the situation. No authentic information has been received about the origin of the infection, but preliminary information suggests that it originated in the village itself.

On August 4, the girl, who was suffering from fever, was confirmed to have the Chandipura virus in Ahmedabad on August 6. Ishika, daughter of Hemraj Kirar, a resident of Itariya, was undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad, but she breathed her last in the middle of the night. The family members are bringing her body to the village.

Following the news of the girl’s death, Shahpura District Collector Rajendra Singh Shekhawat, CMHO Dr. VD Meena, and Phuliyakalan SDM Rajkesh Meena, along with senior officials, have left for Itariya. The District Collector said that the last rites of the body will be performed according to medical protocol. The local administration has been instructed in this regard. Medical teams are conducting surveys in the entire village and its surroundings. A team of doctors has been deployed at the sub-health center there.

The state government is ensuring compliance with the prescribed norms regarding this infection. Medical teams are investigating the origin of the infection. The administration is also gathering information from the villagers at its level. So far, no information has been received about any person from an infected area reaching the village or any person from here going to an infected area. A thorough investigation is being carried out on this point.
