New Delhi, August 9: The Supreme Court on Friday (August 9) granted bail to former Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. Sisodia will have to furnish a bail bond of Rs 10 lakh. Sisodia has been in Tihar Jail for 17 months. He can be released from jail today.
The CBI had arrested Sisodia on February 26 last year in the Delhi liquor policy scam case. Subsequently, the ED re-arrested him on March 9 in a money laundering case.
Sisodia has been granted bail in both the CBI and ED cases.
Sisodia had challenged the Delhi High Court’s order rejecting his bail plea in the Supreme Court. The High Court had dismissed his bail plea in cases of alleged irregularities in the liquor policy.
The last hearing in the case was held on July 29, in which the ED had sought time to file a counter affidavit. Subsequently, a bench comprising Justices BR Gavai and KV Vishwanathan had adjourned the hearing.
