New Delhi, March 8: The Indian women’s cricket team, currently in Australia, has extended its best wishes to Team India ahead of the T20 World Cup 2026 final. The match is set to take place against New Zealand on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) released a video on the women’s team’s official X account featuring head coach Amol Majumdar, along with players Jemimah Rodrigues, Deepti Sharma, and Sneh Rana, offering their support to Team India. The video caption reads, “One Team India that won the World Cup at home, another going to win the World Cup at home tonight.”
Head coach Amol Majumdar expressed, “I want to wish everyone good luck. There will be a huge crowd at the Narendra Modi Stadium. It will be a fantastic atmosphere to play a World Cup final.”
All-rounder Deepti Sharma added, “All the best to Team India for the World Cup final. We are all supporting you. Go and win.”
Jemimah Rodrigues stated, “Let’s bring it home. We are praying for you.”
The Indian women’s cricket team made history by winning their first ODI World Cup on November 2, 2025, defeating South Africa in a match held in Mumbai.
If the Indian team succeeds in defeating New Zealand and clinching the World Cup, they will achieve several records, becoming the first team to win three T20 World Cups. They could also be the first team to win consecutive T20 World Cups and to win a T20 World Cup on home soil.
This marks the fourth time the Indian team has reached the finals of the T20 World Cup, setting a record for any team. India has previously been champions in 2007 and 2024.
