Barmer, September 3 (Udaipur Kiran): An Indian Air Force fighter jet crashed near the Uttarlai airbase in Barmer district, Rajasthan. Upon receiving the information, police and administrative officials rushed to the spot. Both pilots on board ejected safely. The Air Force has confirmed the incident and ordered a court of inquiry.
In an official statement, the Air Force said, “An Indian Air Force MiG-29 aircraft encountered a severe technical malfunction during a routine night training mission in the Barmer sector. This forced the pilot to eject. The pilot is safe and there has been no loss of life or property. A court of inquiry has been ordered.”

According to police, the fighter plane crashed around 10 pm on Monday in a remote area. The crash was followed by a loud explosion and a fire. Barmer Collector Nishant Jain, District Superintendent of Police Narendra Singh Meena, and other administrative officials reached the spot.
Senior police officer Meena said that the collector had called to inform him about the crash near Kavas. Both pilots were safe. The area around the crash site was populated, but the pilots managed to steer the plane towards an uninhabited field. The Air Force has cordoned off a 400-meter area around the crash site.
A local villager, Neemraj, said that he heard a loud explosion and saw smoke rising. He thought it was a lightning strike. Both pilots ejected safely before the crash. One pilot was found near Shaheed Hukam Singh’s village.
