Udaipur, February 12, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal has described Hindustan Zinc as a living example of Rajasthan’s strength and determination, saying the company’s global success reflects the commitment and hard work of the people of the state.

In a social media post, Agarwal said that when Hindustan Zinc was taken over, it was widely seen as an outdated and underperforming unit with old systems, slow decision-making, and limited expectations. Many believed its future was uncertain. However, he said there was never any doubt about the potential of its people.
Referring to Rajasthan’s legacy, Agarwal said the land has produced iconic figures such as Maharana Pratap and Meera Bai, and its people are known for their dedication, skill, pride, and perseverance. He said these qualities became the foundation of Hindustan Zinc’s transformation.
He noted that by working closely at the grassroots level, listening to people, and placing trust in them, the company created over one lakh jobs and increased production by nearly ten times. Today, Hindustan Zinc contributes around 75 per cent of India’s total zinc production. He also said that while silver production in India was once negligible, the company is now producing hundreds of tonnes of silver annually.
Agarwal further stated that in the last one year alone, the company contributed around ₹20,000 crore to the government exchequer, including a ₹3,600 crore dividend to the Government of India. This translates to a contribution of nearly ₹55 crore every day towards national development.
Beyond the numbers, he said Hindustan Zinc’s journey stands as a testament to the courage, hard work, and unwavering willpower of the people of Rajasthan.
