Raichur, September 11 (Udaipur Kiran) : A tragic incident occurred in Raichur, Karnataka, where a 23-year-old man named Prem Kumar lost his life after being crushed by a Ganesh idol. The accident took place early on September 11, as he was transporting the idol to his village of Attanoor in the Sirwar taluk.
According to local police, Prem Kumar had traveled to Hyderabad two days prior with friends to collect the idol. As they were bringing it back around 2:30 AM, the large idol came into contact with overhead power lines, causing it to fall on him. Authorities have sent his body for a post-mortem examination to determine whether the cause of death was due to electric shock or injuries sustained from the idol.
The Sirwar police have registered a case and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. This tragic event comes just days before the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, which begins on September 14, during which many households and public spaces will be adorned with Ganesh idols.
In a related incident, a similar accident occurred in Bhuleshwar, Mumbai, last month, where a 22-foot idol fell, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to five others.
