Google has rolled out its Magnifier app, which was first released on the Pixel 8 smartphone, to older Pixel models. The app allows users to magnify small text and zoom in on faraway text or object details. It is now available to download in the Play Store for Pixel 5 or later models.
The Magnifier app features a simple user interface with large + and – buttons to control the zoom function, as well as smaller buttons to enable/disable the camera flashlight and switch between the device’s front and rear cameras. The app also supports adjustments for contrast and brightness, as well as color filters to improve text readability.
To use the Magnifier app, simply open the app and point your camera at the text or object you want to magnify. You can use the zoom buttons to adjust the level of magnification. Once you have the desired level of magnification, you can take a picture of the text or object by pressing the shutter button.
After taking a picture, you can find options in the top-right corner of the screen to copy the text, listen to it via text-to-speech, or send the text to Google Lens for further analysis. Images clicked using the Magnifier app are not automatically saved to the camera roll, but they can be saved to a specific camera folder by tapping the three-dot menu button and selecting “Save to camera roll.”
The Magnifier app is a valuable accessibility tool that can help people with vision impairments read text and see object details more clearly. It is also a useful tool for anyone who needs to zoom in on small text or faraway objects, such as street signs or restaurant menus.

To enable the Magnifier app’s Quick tap feature, follow these steps:
