Jaipur, March 5 : The impact of recent snowfall in North India has now started affecting the plains, bringing a sharp drop in temperatures across Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana, and western Uttar Pradesh. On Tuesday, strong cold winds swept across multiple regions, causing daytime temperatures to plummet by up to 7°C in several parts of Rajasthan.
Cities like Churu, Ganganagar, Sikar, and Hanumangarh recorded maximum temperatures below 25°C, while cold winds during the evening intensified winter-like conditions in Jaipur, Dausa, Alwar, and Sikar. The Jaipur Meteorological Center has predicted that cold northern winds will persist for the next two days, keeping temperatures low. However, a warming trend is expected from March 7 onward.

Temperature Drops Across Rajasthan Due to Strong Winds
Despite clear skies and bright sunshine throughout the day, cold northwestern and northeastern winds picked up speed by afternoon, leading to dust storms in certain areas and a significant drop in temperatures.
- Fatehpur (Sikar) recorded the sharpest decline, with temperatures falling by 8°C in a single day.
- Monday’s maximum temperature: 31.8°C
- Tuesday’s maximum temperature: 23.8°C
Several other cities, including Jhunjhunu, Mount Abu, Nagaur, Churu, Bikaner, Jodhpur, and Sikar, also witnessed a temperature drop of 5 to 7°C.
Meanwhile, Bhilwara recorded the highest daytime temperature at 32.9°C, followed by Dungarpur (32.6°C), Pratapgarh (30.1°C), and Dholpur (29.9°C).
Cold Winds Bring Back Winter Chill in Jaipur
In Jaipur, strong cold winds picked up intensity by the afternoon, leading to a sharp dip in temperature and a noticeable increase in chill. By evening, residents were seen reaching for warm clothing, as temperatures dropped further.
- Jaipur’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was 27°C, a 4°C drop compared to Monday.
- The cold conditions intensified after sunset, making the city experience unexpected winter-like conditions.
What’s Next? Weather Forecast for Rajasthan
According to Jaipur Meteorological Center Director Radheshyam Sharma, no active Western Disturbance is expected to impact Rajasthan in the coming week, ensuring dry weather conditions across most parts of the state.
- For the next 48 hours, strong northerly winds (20-25 km/h) will continue, leading to a further drop of 2-4°C in both maximum and minimum temperatures.
- By March 7-8, these cold winds will subside, and temperatures will begin rising, marking the onset of a warmer phase.
