Good Company Essential for a Drug-Free Life, Says Amayatma Krishnadas

Udaipur, June 28, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran) : A motivational seminar was organised on Saturday as part of a series of awareness programmes conducted by Prayag Seva Sansthan De-Addiction and Rehabilitation Centre, Dheekli, on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse. The programme featured senior representative of the Hare Krishna Movement, Amayatma Krishnadas, as the chief guest.

Addressing the gathering, Amayatma Krishnadas spoke in detail about the spiritual, social and moral aspects of de-addiction and encouraged participants to bring positive changes into their lives.

He said that a person’s future is determined by the company they keep. According to him, individuals who associate with good, cultured and positive-minded people naturally move in the right direction in life, while wrong company gradually pushes people towards addiction, crime and despair. He stated that anyone who genuinely wishes to overcome addiction must first distance themselves from people who are addicted to intoxicants or encourage others towards such habits.

Krishnadas said that addiction not only harms the body but also weakens the mind, intellect, family and society. He noted that addiction takes away a person’s ability to think clearly, self-confidence, financial stability and family happiness. He added that many talented young people push their bright futures into darkness due to wrong company and temporary attractions. He urged youth to remain focused on their goals and choose an environment that inspires them to move forward in life.

He further said that spiritual living, regular prayer, satsang, yoga, meditation and service activities strengthen the mind and help individuals stay away from harmful habits such as addiction. He stated that when the mind is filled with positive thoughts and good values, there is no place left for addiction. He called upon young people to join hands with their friends, families and society to build a drug-free India and to spread awareness about the harmful effects of addiction.

Rudra Pratap Singh Rathore, founder of the institution, said that on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse, the organisation has been continuously conducting awareness activities, seminars, counselling sessions and public awareness campaigns to educate society, especially youth, about the harmful effects of addiction and encourage them to lead healthy, positive and drug-free lives.

At the conclusion of the programme, all participants pledged to stay away from addiction and play an active role in making society drug-free.
