New Delhi, June 28: In a significant crackdown against drug trafficking, the Western District Police of Delhi has arrested 16 individuals as part of a special operation named ‘Kavach-14.0’. This operation has led to the registration of 13 NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) cases, with authorities seizing over 32 kilograms of marijuana, along with other narcotics including 89.77 grams of smack, 9.8 grams of cocaine, and 6.62 grams of MDMA.
During the operation, police also confiscated an auto rickshaw, a scooter, a mobile phone, and ₹1,450 suspected to be linked to drug sales. Following directives from senior officials, the Western District Police implemented a ‘zero tolerance’ policy against drug trafficking, conducting continuous raids and surveillance based on intelligence inputs.
The largest operation took place in the Punjabi Bagh area, where the Anti-Narcotics Squad arrested four individuals—Mithun Kumar, Vikram Kumar, Sanjay Yadav, and Mohammad Rizwan—recovering 23.160 kilograms of commercial-grade marijuana from their possession.
In the Rajouri Garden area, Ram Kumar was apprehended with 6.62 grams of MDMA and an auto rickshaw, while the Special Staff arrested a suspect named Sunday with 9.8 grams of cocaine and a scooter.
Additionally, four separate cases of smack trafficking were uncovered in Tilak Nagar, Punjabi Bagh, Khayala, and Vikaspuri, leading to the recovery of a total of 89.77 grams of smack and the arrest of four more suspects.
According to police, some of the arrested individuals have prior criminal records, with Seeta having nine cases, Ravi Kant alias Chibbi with 18, and Gurmel with 30 criminal cases registered against them.
The Western District Police has stated that operations under ‘Kavach-14.0’ will continue to dismantle the drug trafficking network, with further investigations underway to apprehend additional members of the gang.
