Safety Concerns Raised Over Temple Theft by MP Chandrashekhar Azad

Haridwar, June 28: Chandrashekhar Azad, Member of Parliament from the Nagina constituency in Uttar Pradesh, has raised serious concerns regarding the recent theft incidents at temples, particularly in light of the Ram Temple donation theft case. Speaking to the media in Haridwar, Azad questioned the safety of sacred places, stating, “If even temples are not safe, where can one find the truth and security?”

He emphasized the alarming situation where theft occurs without fear, asking, “If looting and theft can happen at the feet of God, then what can be considered the safest place?” His remarks highlight a growing concern about the sanctity and security of religious sites.

In a related incident, Azad was stopped by police in Haridwar while attempting to visit the family of a Dalit youth who was recently murdered. Supporters of the MP claimed that the police prevented him from proceeding. Azad expressed his dismay over the situation, stating, “Our people are suffering greatly due to this incident. The family has called upon us to be their voice, and we are going to meet them peacefully. However, the atmosphere of fear must end.” He asserted that every citizen has the constitutional right to protest peacefully.

Recently, Azad also spoke out about the brutal murder of an 18-year-old Dalit youth, Ketan Lal, in the Deval village of Tehri district, which he described as a matter of shame and concern for the entire nation. According to family members, Ketan was lured under the pretext of a relationship, held captive, and brutally beaten throughout the night. The attackers even threatened the family, saying, “Take your son away from here.” Azad condemned this incident as not just a murder but an attack on the Constitution, equality, and humanity.

He further stated that the killing of a Dalit youth merely for daring to love a girl from a so-called upper caste community underscores the persistent threat of casteist mentality to both society and the system.
