New Delhi, March 11: In a strict enforcement of its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested one of its own officers on charges of demanding a bribe. The action took place on March 10 in Delhi.
The CBI had registered a case against the accused inspector, who allegedly sought a bribe from an individual in exchange for not taking action on a complaint filed against that person within the agency. The complainant informed the CBI, prompting the agency to initiate an investigation and gather necessary evidence.
Following the arrest, the CBI team conducted a raid at the inspector’s residence, recovering electronic gadgets and several incriminating documents. These pieces of evidence are shedding light on the depth of the case.
After the arrest, the accused was presented in a competent court in Delhi, which remanded him to police custody for two days to aid in the investigation and facilitate the collection of further evidence.
The CBI’s action sends a clear message that corruption will not be tolerated, regardless of the individual’s position. The agency remains committed to its core principles of integrity, fairness, and transparency.
According to the CBI, the investigation is ongoing, and all eyes are on potential further revelations. The agency has assured that the entire inquiry will be conducted impartially, and those found guilty will face legal consequences.
The CBI believes that this step is significant towards achieving a corruption-free administration and will enhance public trust in the agency.
