Prayagraj, September 3: Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated every year on the eighth day of the Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada with faith, devotion, and joy. This day is not just a festival but a grand celebration of love, trust, and devotion. According to religious beliefs, it was on this auspicious date during the Dwapar Yuga that Lord Krishna was born at midnight from Devaki’s womb in a prison in Mathura. Each year, there are different opinions regarding the date of Janmashtami among householders and the Vaishnav community, but this year a special alignment is occurring.
Pandit Shipra Sachdev stated, “This year, both householders and saints will celebrate Krishna Janmashtami on the same day, which is September 4.” He explained, “The Ashtami Tithi will begin at 2:30 AM on September 3-4 and will last until 12:30 AM on September 5. Therefore, Janmashtami will be celebrated on September 4. The auspicious time for worship on this day will start at 11:05 AM and last until 12:35 PM. During this time, devotees can worship Lord Krishna with full rituals.”
Pandit Shipra also shared special remedies for fulfilling wishes. He mentioned, “If you have any desires or wish to please Lord Krishna, make sure to offer him a silver flute as a gift. If you have a Bal Gopal at home, offer him a silver flute. If you prefer to offer it at the temple and do not want to use silver, you can buy a regular flute, make a wish, and offer it at the feet of Lord Krishna.”
It is believed that offering a flute to Lord Krishna on Janmashtami fulfills all wishes. On this day, the birth festival of Bal Gopal is celebrated at midnight, where he is swung in a cradle and offered butter and sugar as prasad.
