Jodhpur, October 29 (Udaipur Kiran): The Rajasthan High Court has granted six months’ bail to self-styled godman Asaram, who is serving a life sentence for raping a minor. The decision was delivered by a division bench comprising Acting Chief Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma and Justice Sangeeta Sharma.
The bail plea was filed on medical grounds. After the expiry of his interim bail, Asaram had surrendered on August 30. However, a few days after his surrender, he was admitted to a hospital due to health complications.
Asaram has been serving a life term since April 2018 in the minor rape case. After nearly 12 years in jail, he was granted interim bail for the first time on medical grounds on January 7, 2025.
The High Court heard his plea for suspension of sentence and regular bail on medical grounds on October 29, 2025. Senior advocate Devdutt Kamat appeared for Asaram, while Additional Advocate General Deepak Chaudhary represented the Rajasthan government. Advocate P.C. Solanki argued on behalf of the victim.
After hearing all sides, the bench granted Asaram bail for six months.
