Arsenal Sign Valencia Defender Cristhian Mosquera in £13 Million Deal

London, July 25 — Premier League side Arsenal have officially signed Spanish club Valencia’s defender Cristhian Mosquera, the club confirmed on Thursday.

The Spain Under-21 international has been signed for an initial fee of around £13 million, including performance-based add-ons. He has agreed to a five-year contract, with an option to extend it by another year. With this signing, Arsenal’s summer transfer spending has reached nearly £140 million (approximately USD 189 million).

Mosquera Joins as Defensive Cover

The 21-year-old Mosquera becomes Arsenal’s fifth signing of the current transfer window. He is expected to provide cover for main defenders William Saliba and Gabriel, although he is capable of playing in any defensive position.

Last season, Mosquera made 41 appearances for Valencia. He has now joined Arsenal’s squad for their ongoing pre-season tour in Singapore and Hong Kong.

Arsenal Set for 2025/26 Season Opener Against Manchester United

Arsenal, who have finished runners-up in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons, will kick off their 2025/26 campaign on August 17 against Manchester United.

Meanwhile, the club is also reportedly aiming to sign Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyökeres.
