Jaipur, 29 January (Udaipur Kiran): Acting on the directions of the Anti-Corruption Bureau headquarters, the ACB Sriganganagar unit on Thursday arrested three officials of Anupgarh Municipality while accepting a bribe of ₹48,000. The accused have been identified as Sunil Kumar, Assistant Accounts Officer; Suresh Kumar, Storekeeper; and Bharat Soni, Computer Operator (Tender), all posted at Anupgarh Municipality.
Director General of Police, ACB, Govind Gupta, said the Sriganganagar unit received a complaint alleging that the municipal officials were demanding commission for clearing pending bills of the complainant’s firm. According to the complaint, against a previous payment of around ₹4 lakh, the accused demanded a commission and threatened to withhold payment of pending bills if the bribe was not paid.
The complaint stated that Sunil Kumar and Suresh Kumar had demanded a commission calculated on the earlier payment amount and linked the release of pending bills to payment of the bribe, causing continuous harassment to the complainant.
Following verification, under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Bhuvan Bhushan Yadav, Bikaner Range, a trap was laid by the ACB team led by Additional Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Meena, Sriganganagar. During the operation, Police Inspector Rajendra Kumar and the bureau staff caught all three accused red-handed while accepting ₹48,000 as bribe from the complainant.
Under the supervision of Inspector General of Police Rajesh Singh, further interrogation and legal action against the accused is underway. The ACB has registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and further investigation will be conducted.
