Mumbai, June 6: The ongoing legal dispute between producer Vashu Bhagnani and director David Dhawan has been making headlines in Bollywood. Recently, a light-hearted conversation at choreographer and director Farah Khan’s home brought this matter back into the spotlight.
Actor Varun Dhawan, along with his father David Dhawan, visited Farah Khan’s residence, where the mention of Vashu Bhagnani’s name led to laughter and jokes. David Dhawan arrived first, followed by Varun, who brought gifts for their house help and social media star, Dilip.
Upon entering Farah’s home, Varun remarked, “This house is even better than American President Donald Trump’s house. I have something special for Dilip.” When Farah questioned Varun about his late arrival and lack of gifts for her, he humorously replied, “Don’t ask me why I was late.” Farah then jokingly asked, “Did you go to meet Vashu Ji?” This prompted laughter from everyone, with Varun playfully responding that he was handling that matter.
The dispute revolves around music rights between Vashu Bhagnani and David Dhawan, which has led to a legal battle. Bhagnani has filed a case against Tips Industries and some associated individuals, alleging unauthorized use of creative rights related to his films, including the well-known film ‘Biwi No. 1.’
Vashu Bhagnani asserts that the creation and hard work of any producer is their identity, and it should not be used without permission. On May 23, he held an online press conference regarding the issue, emphasizing that this matter is more about principles and ethics than money. He stated that the film industry operates on relationships and trust, and when that trust is broken, the hurt is greater.
