Lucerne, June 6: Veer Ahluwalia emerged as the top Indian golfer at the Swiss Challenge held in Lucerne, Switzerland, finishing the first round with a score of 2-under 69, placing him tied for 28th. Arjun Prasad followed closely behind with a score of 1-under 71, landing him in a tie for 41st.
Other Indian golfer, Saptak Talwar, had a challenging day, carding a score of 3-over 74, which put him in a tie for 110th. Denmark’s Christopher Bring topped the field with an impressive bogey-free score of 7-under 64, leading by one shot over four players: Hayden Barron, George Blour, Tadeusz Tetka, and Tobias Eden.
Ahluwalia, who split his time between the Hotel Planner Tour and the DP World Tour, began his round on the back nine, finishing the turn at 1-over par. He faced challenges early on, making bogeys on the 11th and 14th holes, but recovered with a birdie on the 17th.
On the front nine, Ahluwalia found his rhythm, scoring four birdies across six holes, starting with a birdie on the second hole. He ended his round with five birdies and three bogeys.
Arjun Prasad also started on the back nine, gaining an early lead with birdies on the 13th and 15th holes. However, he lost shots on the 16th and 18th holes, finishing the turn at even par. A birdie on the first hole of the front nine allowed him to briefly return to below par before he dropped a shot on the third hole. He finished his round with a score of 1-under 70, currently tied for 41st on the leaderboard.
Saptak Talwar struggled throughout the day, carding a score of 3-over 74 and landing in a tie for 110th. He managed only one birdie on the fourth hole but faced setbacks with a bogey on the eighth, a double bogey on the 12th, and another bogey on the 18th.
Christopher Bring started strong with four birdies in the first seven holes and maintained his lead with three additional birdies in the last five holes, finishing the day at 7-under 64. Four players are tied for second place at 6-under par.
