Daman, June 6: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Daman on Friday, where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 56 development projects worth approximately ₹2,970 crores. Key projects included the inauguration of the NamO Hospital and NamO Airport.
Upon PM Modi’s arrival, BJP leader Aspi Damania expressed to a news agency, “The atmosphere here feels like a festival with the Prime Minister’s visit.” Local residents displayed significant enthusiasm, with one supporter stating, “PM Modi has done so much for us. He has opened hospitals, built schools, and established several engineering colleges. I consider him a god; he does everything for us.”
Another supporter noted, “Despite being a small area, we have seen so much development and are receiving such great facilities.” A local resident, visibly emotional, shared, “Until now, we had only seen him on TV. Today, we saw him in person. We pray that he remains Prime Minister every year.”
Residents mentioned that they had been working day and night for the past ten days to decorate Daman in anticipation of this visit. They expressed gratitude for the significant gifts the region has received, which they had never imagined.
The NamO Airport and NamO Hospital projects are expected to provide better health facilities and improved connectivity for local residents. The excitement among the people for the PM’s welcome was palpable.
During his visit, Prime Minister Modi inaugurated various development projects aimed at enhancing regional connectivity, health services, tourism, and infrastructure. He opened the new terminal building of NamO Airport, which will strengthen air connectivity for Daman and the entire Union Territory, significantly boosting tourism.
Additionally, the Prime Minister inaugurated the NamO Hospital and laid the foundation for important projects such as the iconic bridge, Daman Convention Centre, and NIFT campus. The construction of modern multipurpose jetties and port facilities in the Lakshadweep islands of Kalapeni and Kadmat was also initiated.
