Jaipur, August 19: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Udaipur unit arrested Manoharlal, an employee at the Agriculture Produce Market Committee (Mandi) office in Savina, Udaipur, for allegedly taking a cash bribe of Rs 24,000.

The action was carried out on Wednesday on the directions of the ACB headquarters.
According to ACB Director General of Police Govind Gupta, a complaint was received at the ACB Udaipur office from a person who runs a flour mill in Kaladwas, Udaipur, and legally purchases wheat through the Agriculture Produce Market Committee, Savina, and other traders.
Bribe Demanded in the Name of Former Mandi Secretary
According to the complaint, since March 2026, accused employee Manoharlal had been stopping tractors carrying wheat belonging to traders associated with the complainant. In the name of checking, the traders were allegedly pressured to immediately produce bills. When bills were not produced, challans were being issued.
The complainant said this was affecting his business.
When he spoke to the accused about the matter, Manoharlal allegedly demanded a monthly bribe in the name of the then Secretary of Agriculture Produce Market Committee, Savina, Udaipur, Madan Gurjar.
The bribe was allegedly demanded in return for not checking tractors belonging to traders doing business with the complainant, not issuing challans against them and not imposing penalties under Rajasthan Agriculture Produce Market Rules for not providing copies of bills for wheat purchased by the complainant.
According to the complainant, the accused had earlier demanded and received Rs 65,000 as bribe for the period from April 2025 to March 2026. After this, another bribe was allegedly demanded for the four-month period from April 2026 to July 2026.
ACB Confirms Bribe Demand
The ACB conducted verification of the complaint, during which the alleged demand for bribe by Manoharlal was confirmed.
After the demand was confirmed, the ACB Udaipur Range team carried out a trap operation under the supervision of Deputy Inspector General of Police Dr Rameshwar Singh and direction of Additional Superintendent of Police Anant Kumar.
Police Inspector Ramsumer Meena and the trap team caught Manoharlal red-handed while he was allegedly accepting Rs 24,000 in cash from the complainant.
Further Action Underway
Questioning of accused Manoharlal and further proceedings are underway under the supervision of ACB Additional Director General of Police Smita Srivastava and Inspector General of Police S. Parimala.
The ACB will register a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act and conduct further investigation.
The ACB has appealed to people to contact its toll-free helpline 1064 or WhatsApp helpline 94135-02834, available 24×7, to report corruption. The bureau said it will provide full help in getting legitimate work done.
