Udaipur, August 6: Authorities launched a special enforcement drive against illegally operated luxury sleeper buses and vehicles with unauthorised structural modifications in Udaipur. During the operation, three luxury sleeper buses were seized, while five buses were fined a total of Rs. 75,000 for violating transport regulations.

The campaign was conducted under the directions of District and Sessions Judge and Chairman, District Legal Services Authority, Gyan Prakash Gupta, following the initiative of the Member Secretary, Rajasthan State Legal Services Authority, Jaipur. The objective was to safeguard citizens’ right to safe transportation and ensure strict compliance with statutory provisions and government guidelines.
Joint Inspection Conducted at Balicha Chouraha
As part of the drive, a joint surprise inspection was carried out by the District Legal Services Authority and the Transport Department at Balicha Chouraha in the Govardhan Vilas police station area.
During the inspection, action was taken against luxury sleeper buses found operating illegally.
Five Buses Penalised, Three Seized
Officials inspected 10 buses during the campaign. Out of these, five buses were issued challans for violating various transport rules, and penalties amounting to approximately Rs. 75,000 were imposed.
Additionally, three buses were seized on the spot after officials detected serious irregularities and unauthorised structural modifications.

The inspection was carried out in the presence of Additional District Judge and Secretary, District Legal Services Authority Rahul Choudhary, Chief Judicial Magistrate Manish Kumar Joshi, District Transport Officer Mukesh Dad, along with senior officials from the administration, judiciary, and police departments.
