Rs 2.44 Crore Cash Recovered in Fake Seed Case; State Seed Corporation Director Among Six Held

Jaipur, June 7, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has launched a major operation in connection with an alleged fake seed case, detaining Rajasthan State Seed Corporation Director Jugal Kishore Bishnoi and five others, while arresting one person with a large amount of cash.

According to the ACB, the action is linked to efforts to ensure the supply of quality and certified seeds to farmers and safeguard food security. The case relates to alleged irregularities involving Gajraj-brand groundnut seeds owned by businessman Kiran Kapadia.

Officials said earlier action had been taken against the company’s seed warehouse, including sealing the premises, halting seed sales and collecting samples for laboratory testing.

During the investigation, the ACB received information that a portion of an alleged bribe amount was being transported to Sri Ganganagar through a bus. Acting on the tip-off, an ACB team intercepted the bus at Lunkaransar and recovered approximately Rs 85 lakh from Swatantra Bishnoi, who was subsequently arrested.

The bureau stated that searches conducted at the residence of Jugal Kishore Bishnoi and during the bus operation resulted in the recovery of around Rs 2.44 crore in cash, including Rs 1.59 crore allegedly found at the director’s residence.

Apart from Swatantra Bishnoi, those being questioned include Jugal Kishore Bishnoi, Kiran Kapadia, Ganpat Bishnoi, Sunil Setia and Satpal.

According to the preliminary investigation, seed samples were collected on May 27, 2026, during action against the groundnut seed warehouse. The ACB alleges that efforts were made to influence official proceedings, suppress the case and facilitate the transportation of the seized seeds back to Gujarat in exchange for large sums of money.

The bureau said further investigation is underway under the supervision of senior ACB officials and the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Ajmer Range.
