Udaipur, February 13, 2026 (Udaipur Kiran): A road safety awareness seminar was organised by the Pacific Institute of Fire and Safety Management under Pacific University to promote responsible driving and traffic discipline among students and citizens.

The programme aimed to spread awareness about the importance of road safety and adherence to traffic rules. The chief guests included Narayan Chaudhary (Aadhar Foundation, Udaipur), Sunil Charan (Circle Inspector, Udaipur) and N.M. Gulzar (Additional RTO). Among those present were Prof. T.P. Ameta, Prof. Dipin Mathur and Dr Pushpa Mendu. The event began with the traditional lighting of the lamp before Goddess Saraswati.
Director of the institute, Dr Mukesh Shrimali, welcomed the guests and said that road safety is a crucial need of the present time. He encouraged students to understand and strictly follow traffic rules. Pacific University President Prof Hemant Kothari urged students to adopt alertness, discipline and a sense of responsibility while driving.
Narayan Chaudhary said that road safety is not only the responsibility of the administration but of every citizen. He informed participants about the newly introduced smart traffic system, under which high-resolution cameras have been installed at major city intersections to detect violations such as overspeeding, jumping red lights and not wearing helmets.
Circle Inspector Sunil Charan emphasised proper use of road facilities, lane discipline and respect for traffic rules. He presented video examples of road accidents to highlight the consequences of negligence. He underlined the importance of wearing helmets and seat belts, stating that fastening the helmet strap is equally important. He also explained that airbags in cars function effectively only when seat belts are worn, as the sensor activates accordingly.
Additional RTO N.M. Gulzar said that even small precautions by citizens can significantly reduce accidents. He appealed to parents not to hand over vehicles to underage children, calling it a punishable offence. He stressed that proper use of safety equipment is key to saving lives during accidents.
The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Amos Mark, while the programme was conducted by Mrs Kripa Jain. A large number of students and faculty members participated and pledged to remain vigilant about road safety.
