Yellow Alert Issued for Rain and Dust Storms; Barmer, Jaisalmer Record Rising Temperatures
Jaipur, May 14, 2025 — The India Meteorological Department (IMD), Jaipur has issued a yellow alert for thunderstorm and rainfall across 11 districts of Rajasthan for today, May 14. Additionally, a heatwave warning has been issued for northwestern parts of the state starting May 15, indicating extreme temperature conditions in select districts.
On Tuesday, several cities witnessed sudden weather changes in the afternoon, especially in Alwar, Bharatpur, Jaipur, Hanumangarh, and Jhunjhunu, where dust storms and light rain were reported.

Weather Shift After Clear Mornings in Most Cities
The day began with clear skies and sunny weather in cities like Jaipur, Ajmer, Ganganagar, and Jaisalmer. However, weather patterns began shifting around 3 PM, particularly in parts of Hanumangarh and Jhunjhunu, where cloud cover developed rapidly. In Alwar, rainfall was recorded in several areas, bringing temporary relief from the heat and dust.
Dust-laden winds were also reported in some pockets, reducing visibility and briefly disrupting road traffic in certain regions.
Heatwave Conditions Likely in Barmer, Jaisalmer and Nearby Districts
While parts of Rajasthan experienced relief due to pre-monsoon activity, cities like Barmer and Jaisalmer continued to experience soaring temperatures, with maximum readings exceeding 41°C.
According to the weather office, northwestern Rajasthan, including Barmer, Jaisalmer, and Bikaner, may experience heatwave conditions from May 15 onwards. A yellow alert has been issued for these areas, warning residents to take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
Residents are advised to stay updated with local forecasts, avoid direct sun exposure during peak hours, and stay hydrated, especially as the state transitions into hotter pre-monsoon conditions.
