Udaipur, August 21: Pacific University will organise a two-day international seminar on “Ancient Indian Knowledge Tradition, Science and Various Modern Dimensions of Knowledge” on August 22 and 23, 2026. The seminar will be jointly organised by the Department of History and the Pacific College of Social Sciences and Humanities.
The grand opening of the seminar will be held on Saturday in the presence of academics, researchers, historians and experts from India and abroad. Discussions will focus on ancient Indian knowledge traditions, philosophy, science, education, culture and their relevance in the modern world.
Jahanvi Kumari Mewar will be the chief guest at the inaugural programme. Rebecca Taylor from Australia and Dr Anshuman Shastri, Director of Banasthali Vidyapith, Jaipur, have also been invited. Prof Dilbag Singh of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, will attend as a special guest.
A panel discussion will also be held during the seminar. Prof Dilbag Singh, Dr Ahmed Sudan, Dr Lokesh Bharti, DEO, Udaipur, and Dr Shrikrishna Jugnu will participate in the discussion. The panel will discuss the scientific, historical, social and modern aspects of the ancient Indian knowledge tradition.
The two-day seminar will provide a platform for participants to present research papers and exchange views on the scientific, philosophical, social and contemporary aspects of India’s traditional knowledge systems.
Conference Director Dr T.P. Ameta and Organising Secretary Dr Ajat Shatru Singh Shivratri said the main objective of the seminar is to encourage serious academic discussion on ancient Indian knowledge, philosophy and science in both historical and modern contexts. The event also aims to connect the younger generation with India’s rich knowledge heritage.
Rahul Agrawal, Preeti Agrawal, Aman Agrawal, Prof B.P. Sharma, Sharad Kothari and Prof Hemant Kothari extended their best wishes for the successful organisation of the seminar. They said the academic event could help bring different aspects of Indian knowledge traditions to the global academic platform.
The organisers said academics and research scholars have shown keen interest in the event. They expect the discussions to bring out important views on preserving, promoting and highlighting the global relevance of India’s ancient knowledge tradition.
