Jodhpur, 27 December (Udaipur Kiran) – Indian Railways has prepared an ambitious proposal to double the train operation capacity at Jodhpur and Jaipur stations over the next five years, responding to the rising passenger demand. The North Western Railway plans to develop infrastructure at 48 major railway stations across the country, including Jodhpur and Jaipur, through a comprehensive mega plan.
The goal is to double operational capacity by 2030 by upgrading station infrastructure and enhancing the ability to run new trains. Shashi Kiran, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Western Railway, stated that short-term and medium-term measures will be prioritized to streamline traffic and increase capacity at busy stations for the benefit of passengers.
This approach will cater to both suburban and non-suburban traffic, considering the unique requirements of each category. A detailed action plan covering 48 major cities will be submitted to the Planning Directorate, outlining ongoing, proposed, and approved projects aimed at achieving the target within the specified timeframe.
Capacity expansion will be implemented in phases over the next five years to deliver immediate benefits and effectively meet growing passenger demand. The work will be categorized into three groups: immediate, short-term, and long-term interventions.
