Mumbai, September 2: The Union Territory of Ladakh is ramping up initiatives to connect its youth with governance. Secretary Bhanu Prabha announced that the LG Youth Internship Portal, launched by the Lieutenant Governor on August 22, allows young people to undertake three-month internships across 25 departments. Participants will receive a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 and a certificate of experience, aimed at helping them understand government operations and contribute to the vision of a developed Ladakh.
Prabha stated, “As you all know, the Lieutenant Governor (Vinay Kumar Saxena) launched the LG Youth Internship Portal on August 22. He emphasized that Prime Minister Modi envisions a developed India by 2047, but our Lieutenant Governor wants us to see a developed India much sooner. This can only happen if the youth of Ladakh engage with the administration and the community collaborates with us to embark on a journey towards a developed Ladakh.”
She further explained that the portal offers internship opportunities for all youth in Ladakh, allowing them to connect with various departments based on their educational qualifications or prior work experience. Each participant can opt for five departments, and they will be offered roles suitable for them.
Prabha also highlighted the financial benefits of this internship, stating that a monthly stipend of ₹5,000 has been set to support participants. She urged the youth of Ladakh to actively participate, noting that the last date for applications is September 6. “This is a great opportunity,” she said.
Additionally, she mentioned that this initiative would help the administration understand community needs better and improve service delivery. Youth will gain firsthand experience of how different departments operate and the challenges they face. “I am confident that with the vision of our LG and the collaboration of the community and youth, we will soon progress towards a developed Ladakh,” she concluded.
