New Delhi, April 27 (Udaipur Kiran) – The pre-monsoon season is set to intensify weather activity across the country, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a heavy rain alert for multiple states on April 28, 29, and 30.

Following the arrival of the pre-monsoon phase, noticeable changes in weather conditions have been observed, leading to a fresh spell of rainfall in several regions. Experts had earlier indicated the possibility of strong rainfall in 2026 after a favourable monsoon season in 2025. However, recent reports have also suggested a potential impact of El Niño on rainfall patterns this year. Amid these developments, pre-monsoon activity is expected to dominate in the coming days.
Northwest India
The IMD has warned of heavy rainfall at several places across Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir, and Ladakh between April 28 and 30. Light rain is also likely in some areas. Wind speeds of 30–40 kmph, dust storms, lightning, and possible hailstorm activity have been forecast in parts of the region.
East and Central India
Weather conditions are expected to shift across Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, West Bengal, Sikkim, Odisha, and Jharkhand. The IMD has issued alerts for both heavy and light rainfall across different locations during the three-day period. Wind speeds of 30–50 kmph, dust storms, lightning, and isolated hailstorms are also expected in some districts.
South India
The department has forecast widespread rainfall across Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Mahe, Yanam, Karaikal, and Rayalaseema from April 28 to 30. Strong winds reaching 30–50 kmph along with thunder activity are also likely during this period.
Northeast India
Pre-monsoon conditions will bring heavy rainfall across Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Manipur, Tripura, and Nagaland. Strong winds, dust storms, and lightning are also expected at several locations.
West India
Parts of Maharashtra are likely to witness heavy rainfall during the same period. The IMD has also warned of strong winds and dust storms in the region.
