Jaipur, October 23 (Udaipur Kiran News): In a major breakthrough in the Jaisalmer double murder case, the district police have arrested the main accused from Punjab, bringing significant progress to the sensational case involving the brutal killing of a trader and his accountant in Mohangarh area.

Under the leadership of Superintendent of Police (SP) Abhishek Shivhare, a special team tracked down the accused using advanced technical surveillance and field intelligence.
According to SP Shivhare, on the night of October 20, unidentified assailants murdered trader Madanlal Saraswat and his accountant Renvatram by slitting their throats with sharp-edged weapons. After committing the crime, the attackers looted cash and fled with the trader’s Alto car. The next morning, the trader’s son, Pankaj Kumar Saraswat, filed an FIR at Mohangarh Police Station.
SP personally led the investigation
Taking the case seriously, SP Abhishek Shivhare immediately reached the crime scene and formed a high-level Special Investigation Team (SIT). He assigned Additional SP Praveen Kumar, CO Nachna Gajendra Singh Champawat, CO Pokaran Bhawani Singh, and Mohangarh SHO Nathu Singh to lead different investigation units. Forensic and dog squad teams were also deployed to collect vital evidence from the spot.
600 km CCTV trail across three states
Around 50 police officers and personnel worked tirelessly, scanning CCTV footage across Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab covering nearly 600 kilometres. The combination of strong technical analysis and coordinated intelligence helped police trace the suspect’s movement and identify his location.
Accused nabbed from Muktsar district, Punjab
Following sustained efforts, a team led by ASP Pokaran, along with Nachna SHO Bhuttaram, Phalodi SHO Amarram, and technical cell head Bhimrao Singh, tracked down the accused. The main accused, Gurpreet Singh (29), son of Baljinder Singh, was detained from Farid Khera in Muktsar district, Punjab, and later arrested after interrogation.
The looted Alto car used in the crime was also recovered from his possession. The Jaisalmer police are now conducting raids to nab the remaining accused involved in the double murder.
