Raipur, October 4 (Udaipur Kiran) : Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma has strongly criticized Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent comments questioning the integrity of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and the Election Commission. During a statement in Raipur, Sharma accused Gandhi of hypocrisy, stating that the Congress party only raises concerns about EVMs when they lose elections, while readily accepting victories under the same system.
Sharma remarked, “Where they win elections, they take the oath in this very system, and where they lose, they claim that the EVMs malfunctioned or that there was some interference from the Election Commission or their own workers.” He emphasized that the party’s lack of introspection has become apparent.
In addition to addressing Gandhi’s remarks, Sharma discussed the government’s initiatives to improve transportation in remote areas of Chhattisgarh. He explained that due to the challenging geographical conditions, commercial bus operators have not been profitable, which has hindered bus services. To counter this, the state has launched a Chief Minister’s Bus Service Scheme aimed at providing reliable transport to distant villages.
The Deputy CM highlighted the positive outcomes of this initiative in the Surguja and Bastar regions, where areas previously without bus access are now connected. He noted that the fares are kept low due to government subsidies, and bus operators receive additional financial support.
Sharma also touched on the issue of IED incidents in Bastar, which have caused injuries to many locals. To address the needs of those affected, the government is organizing free medical camps on October 15, 16, and 17 in Jagdalpur, as part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Maha Abhiyan.’ Residents from the districts of Kanker, Kondagaon, Narayanpur, and Bastar are expected to benefit from these camps, which will provide necessary medical aids like calipers, hearing devices, and prosthetics.
He announced that the first camp has already registered 3,000 participants from Bijapur, Sukma, and Dantewada districts, aiming to alleviate the suffering caused by the impacts of Naxal violence in the region.
