New Delhi, September 16 (Patrika English News). Congress leader Jairam Ramesh has taken a dig at the Supreme Court’s swift decision in the case related to Reliance Foundation’s Vantara wildlife rescue and rehabilitation centre in Jamnagar, Gujarat.
Ramesh remarked that while the Indian judicial system is usually known for delays, it can move with “remarkable speed” when it wishes to.
Citing the timeline of the case, Ramesh wrote on X that on August 25 this year, the Supreme Court had formed a four-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the matter. The SIT was asked to submit its report by September 12. The panel presented its findings in a “sealed cover,” and by September 15, the apex court accepted the recommendations. This effectively closed the case that began with a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed on August 7.
Taking a swipe, Ramesh added, “If only all cases could be decided with such speed and clarity — and without this mysterious sealed cover!”
On Monday, the Supreme Court cleared Reliance Foundation’s Vantara project, ruling that the “Greens Zoological Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre” was operating within the ambit of law.
