Jaipur : Jaipur police raided a five-star Hotel Ramada’s Menari Club and arrested over 40 people, including three hotel employees, for drinking alcohol and smoking hookah.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said: “Nightclubs are not allowed to operate in the city after 11 pm. Despite this, there were reports of a liquor party going on in a hotel till late at night. A police team was sent to the spot as soon as the information was received. The police started a raid on the hotel at 2.30 am on the basis of a complaint, which continued till 4.30 am.”
The police team of 15 police stations raided the Menari Club of Hotel Ramada for this operation. The police arrested more than 40 people for drinking alcohol and smoking hookah. Officials said that this raid was conducted on the basis of complaints received for the last several days.
The youths caught in the club were brought to Adarsh Nagar police station. The youths were challaned for smoking hookah and 37 of them were taken into custody for disturbing the peace. An FIR will also be registered against the Menari Club of the hotel located in Adarsh Nagar police station area.
Jaipur Police Commissioner Biju George Joseph said: “This raid was conducted under the supervision of ACP Protocol Pradeep Yadav and Additional DCP Protocol Ranveer Meena. The police of a total of 15 police stations of Jaipur city were called to the spot for this operation.”
Officials said: The Adarsh Nagar police station was not informed about this entire raid because this police station comes under the hotel premises area.
Even before this, many hotels in the capital Jaipur have been seen openly flouting the rules. Where alcohol is served openly.
Discos, pubs and bars in Jaipur are allowed to operate only till 11 pm. If any hotel or bar does not follow this rule after that, then there is a provision for legal action against it.
