Udaipur, March 23 (Udaipur Kiran): A one-day national conference on “Harnessing Intellectual Property Rights for Advancing Drug Discovery and Pharmaceutical Research” was organised at Pacific College of Pharmacy, PAHER University, Udaipur, under the aegis of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Rajasthan.

The programme began in the presence of PAHER University Vice-Chancellor Dr. Hemant Kothari, along with heads of various faculties, adding to the significance of the event.
Around 300 students and research scholars from Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and other states, as well as from cities outside Udaipur, participated in the conference.
The event was attended by chief guest Dr. Chetan Singh Chauhan, President, BN University, Udaipur; keynote speaker Dr. L. D. Patel, former Director (PG), Parul University, Limda; and Dr. Kamal Singh Rathore, Professor, BNCP, Udaipur. The conference was convened by Dr. P. K. Chaudhary, Dean, Faculty of Pharmacy, PAHER University, while Dr. Avadh Kishor, Associate Professor at PCP, PAHER University, served as organising secretary.
Experts highlighted the importance of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), stating that it provides legal protection to innovation and research, and plays a crucial role in the development and commercialisation of new drugs in the pharmaceutical sector.
The programme was conducted by Dr. Maya Sharma and Dr. Preeti Solanki. Around 50 e-posters were presented during the event, showcasing research work by participants.
The conference proved to be informative and inspiring for students and young researchers, offering them insights into the role and relevance of IPR in pharmaceutical research.
In the e-poster competition, Krish Palrecha (Pacific College of Pharmacy) and Payal U. Sawant (Rajgad Dnyanpeeth College of Pharmacy, Pune) secured first place. Poonam Garg (Ostwal Institute of Pharmacy, Mangalwad) won second place, while Divya Vasita (Pacific College of Pharmacy) secured third position. Appreciation awards were given to Sahil (Pacific College of Pharmacy) and Deepak L. Changude (Rajgad Dnyanpeeth College of Pharmacy, Pune).
