Indian Language Summer Camp at Dhar School Engages Students with Cultural Learning and Environmental Awareness

Udaipur, June 13 – A seven-day Indian Language Summer Camp is being conducted at the Government Senior Secondary School in Dhar under the aegis of the Rajasthan Council of School Education and supervision of the District Institute of Education and Training (DIET). The initiative aims to promote linguistic diversity, cultural traditions, and holistic education among students through hands-on activities and interactive learning.

A Taste of Kerala in Rural Rajasthan

As part of the fourth-day activities, students were introduced to local ingredients, vegetables, spices, and traditional dishes from across India. Teacher Rekha John led a participatory session with students to compile a comprehensive list of such items. The highlight of the day was a live culinary demonstration of Palappam, a traditional dish from Kerala, which was prepared in front of the students. The demonstration not only provided insight into Kerala’s culinary heritage but also allowed students to witness the preparation process firsthand—a truly enriching and unique experience for all.

Awareness on Blood Donation and Environment

Principal Dr. Satyanarayan Suthar shared that in conjunction with the summer camp, students were also educated about the importance and impact of blood donation in observance of World Blood Donor Day on June 14. To make the learning engaging, local artists and educators Hemant Joshi and Neelofar Munir conducted craft activities where students created themed kites and other artworks highlighting the significance of donating blood.

Adding to the day’s meaningful engagements, renowned storyteller Rajat Meghnani conducted a storytelling session, while environmental advocate Suresh Paliwal from Sukrupa Foundation led a hands-on activity where students built and distributed birdhouses. He also emphasized the value of planting trees, especially dedicating them to one’s mother, inspiring students to connect environmental efforts with personal values.

Community Participation

The camp has drawn support from the local school community, including educators Premshankar Gawariya and Sardarsingh Devda, who actively participated in the sessions. The day concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Rekha Tak.

The Indian Language Summer Camp at Dhar School exemplifies a successful integration of language learning, cultural appreciation, and social responsibility, fostering a well-rounded educational environment for young learners.
