Pre-Monsoon Winds Stir Hope in Udaipur as City Battles Intense Heat

Udaipur, June 13 – With the mercury hovering around 42°C, residents of Udaipur have been reeling under a prolonged heatwave. But there’s a silver lining on the horizon. On Friday evening, around 7:35 PM, strong winds began sweeping through the city, signaling a potential shift in weather conditions. Meteorologists suggest that these winds could pave the way for pre-monsoon showers in the coming days.

Pre-Monsoon

A Minor Dip in Temperature, But No Respite Yet

While the maximum temperature in the city dipped slightly from Thursday to Friday—dropping by one degree—it still remained alarmingly high at 41.8°C, according to the Meteorological Department at Dabok. The minimum temperature was recorded at 31.5°C. Despite the marginal decrease, the persistent heat has turned both days and nights unbearably hot. The heated ground and walls are trapping warmth, making evenings stifling and offering little relief even after sunset.

Heatwave Continues Unabated Since Start of Week

Since the beginning of the week, Udaipur has witnessed relentless heat, with temperatures consistently exceeding 41°C for five consecutive days. On Wednesday and Thursday, the city even crossed the 42°C mark, intensifying the discomfort for residents.

The consistent rise in temperatures has led to an accumulation of surface heat, keeping the city warm round the clock. Locals have been desperately seeking relief, and Friday evening’s winds, along with the presence of dark clouds over several parts of the city, brought a flicker of hope. However, as of the time of reporting, no rainfall had been observed.

Pre-Monsoon Showers Expected Soon

According to forecasts, the region could experience its first spell of pre-monsoon rain within the next couple of days. While the evening winds and cloud cover provided mild relief from the scorching heat, residents are eagerly waiting for the monsoon to arrive in full force.

Until then, the city remains under the grip of intense summer heat, with citizens advised to stay hydrated and limit outdoor exposure during peak hours.
