PM Modi had set a target of 1000 days to achieve this target on 15th August 2015. 18,452 villages now have power. Prime Minister Modi congratulated Team India for this feat and the next target has also already been set ensuring electricity reaches every house in every village.
In a tweet, the Prime Minister said, “28th April 2018 will be remembered as a historic day in the development journey of India.”
He said we fulfilled a commitment due to which the lives of several Indians will be transformed forever!
“I am delighted that every single village of India now has access to electricity,” he added.
In another tweet, PM Modi said, “I salute the efforts of all those who worked tirelessly on the ground, including the team of officials, the technical staff and all others, to make this dream of a #PowerfulIndia a reality. Their efforts today will help generations of Indians in the coming years.”
Union Information and Broadcasting minister Smirti Irani thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for achieving the target of village electrification before deadline.
In a tweet, she said that ‘every single village in India gets lit up after 70 years of independence. “This achievement defines ‘Sankalp Se Siddhi’ in best possible manner. Thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the target has been achieved before the deadline. Congratuations to countrymen for taking a leap towards New India,” she said.
Union Minister Piyush Goyal also congratulated Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Raj Kumar Singh and his team for achieving the target before time.
He said that under the decisive leadership of PM Narendra Modi, India has finally been able to electrify all its villages before the set target date.
