Jaipur, October 27 (Udaipur Kiran): The effect of an active Western Disturbance is being felt across Rajasthan, with Udaipur and nearby areas receiving light rainfall on Sunday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), heavy rainfall is likely in parts of south-eastern Rajasthan on October 27 and 28, prompting a weather alert for the region.

On Sunday, minimum temperatures in 18 cities across the state dropped below 20°C. Nagaur recorded the coldest night at 12.7°C, while Sikar and Dausa also saw temperatures dipping below 15°C. In Jaipur, moderate winds and cloudy skies persisted throughout the day, with a maximum temperature of 31.8°C and minimum of 19.2°C.
Director of the Jaipur Meteorological Centre, Radheshyam Sharma, said that a low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal has intensified into a deep depression, which is likely to develop into a cyclonic storm within 24 hours. It is expected to strengthen further and make landfall as a severe cyclonic storm along the Andhra Pradesh coast on October 28.
In addition, another low-pressure area is present over the east-central Arabian Sea, while a fresh Western Disturbance is likely to become active over north-west India from October 26. Due to these combined systems, moderate to heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder is expected in southern and eastern Rajasthan till October 29, with the most significant impact expected on October 27 and 28.
Light to moderate showers were reported in Udaipur, Kota, and Ajmer divisions on Sunday. The IMD forecast indicates moderate to heavy rain with thunderstorms in Udaipur, Kota, Ajmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Bharatpur divisions over the next two days. Kota and Udaipur divisions and adjoining districts may experience heavy to very heavy rainfall on October 27 and heavy rain on October 28.
Light rainfall activity is likely to continue in southern Rajasthan on October 29–30 as well. On Saturday, isolated light rainfall was recorded in eastern Rajasthan, while the western parts remained dry.
The highest rainfall in the state was recorded at Manohar Thana (Jhalawar) — 16 mm, while Barmer reported the hottest day at 36°C, and Phalodi recorded the warmest night at 24°C. Humidity levels ranged between 38% and 90% across the state.
